Can you take a train from Port St. Lucie to Miami or Orlando?

Train travel from Port St. Lucie to Miami or Orlando: current stations, PSL Express connections, Brightline, Amtrak and complete-trip planning.

6 min readWritten by Derek BrumbyLast verified September 30, 2026Published by Brumby LLC

There is no operating passenger-train station in Port St. Lucie for boarding a train to Miami or Orlando. A practical option is to reach West Palm Beach, then board Brightline or an appropriate Amtrak service. That makes the journey a road connection followed by a train trip, with separate schedules and usually separate tickets. Trains passing through the Treasure Coast do not establish a local boarding stop.

As of September 30, 2026, Martin County's official information still describes a proposed Brightline station that needs further funding and planning. Plan with operating stations rather than an old projected opening date. This guide explains the usable West Palm Beach connection and the details that determine whether it is preferable to driving the whole journey.

Quick list

The question this guide answers

  • There is no current passenger boarding station in Port St. Lucie. Reach an operating station, such as West Palm Beach, and compare Brightline or Amtrak service to the appropriate Orlando arrival point.

Brightline starts with reaching a current station

Brightline's station connection page lists its operating Florida stations, including West Palm Beach, Orlando and MiamiCentral. The West Palm Beach address is 260 Quadrille Plaza Drive. You can drive there, arrange a drop-off or plan a bus connection that leaves enough time for the final transfer. Verify your train, fare and boarding requirements in the official booking channel before arranging the first leg around it.

Enter the destination that actually matches your plans. Brightline's Orlando station is at Orlando International Airport, 10705 Jeff Fuqua Boulevard, while MiamiCentral is at 600 NW First Avenue in downtown Miami. Neither arrival automatically completes a trip to a theme park, beach hotel or meeting elsewhere in the city. Price and schedule the onward transport as well as the train. An airport station is useful for some journeys, but it should not be described as a station at every Orlando attraction.

The weekday PSL Express can provide the road connection

Palm Tran's Port St. Lucie Express page lists weekday coach service between the Gatlin Boulevard Park & Ride and West Palm Beach. The published schedule checked September 30 shows morning southbound departures at 6:20 and 6:45 a.m., arriving at the Intermodal Transit Center at 7:25 and 7:50 a.m. respectively. These are scheduled times, not a guarantee against traffic delay. Confirm service and the appropriate stop for your date.

The express costs $3 each way and is cashless, with Paradise Pass and contactless payment options. It has a mobility-device lift and securement. This service is separate from St. Lucie County's fare-free ART local buses. A train itinerary must fit the express's limited timetable, including the return. Do not assume the express runs on a weekend or provides a late-night ride home after a concert. The West Palm Beach commuting guide compares the full express timetable with driving.

The bus center and Brightline station are different places

Palm Tran identifies the Intermodal Transit Center at 150 Clearwater Drive, adjacent to the Tri-Rail station and with Amtrak connections. Brightline's station is at a different address. Do not select a train that requires immediate boarding at the bus's listed arrival time. First identify the express stop where you will leave the coach, then plan the walk, local ride or other transfer to the correct station entrance.

Include the needs of the group in that connection. A traveler with luggage, a stroller or limited walking endurance may prefer a drop-off directly at the rail station. Check an accessible route and assistance arrangements before booking. Add enough time for the bus to arrive late and for station procedures. A bus driver or map app suggesting that the locations are “nearby” is not a guarantee that you can make a very tight connection with everyone and everything you are carrying.

Amtrak is another service to compare

Amtrak lists West Palm Beach station and publishes a Floridian timetable that includes West Palm Beach, Orlando and Miami. Search your exact date and city pair in Amtrak's booking system to compare available services, travel time and fare. The timetable establishes that the route includes those places; it does not make every departure the best option for a same-day outing or guarantee seats for your party.

Amtrak and Brightline use different stations and arrival locations. Compare the complete itinerary instead of selecting whichever brand shows a lower initial fare. If your destination is downtown Orlando, check the actual Amtrak arrival station and onward transport against Brightline's airport arrival. If heading to Miami, do the same for the particular rail service and your final address. The bus-center connection may be useful for Amtrak, but the published rail departure still needs to fit the weekday express and your return plan.

Compare the complete cost and time

Add the journey in stages: home to the park-and-ride or station, waiting time, road connection, station transfer, boarding allowance, train time and transport at the destination. Repeat the calculation for the return. A rail travel time printed between two stations is only one part of that total. If driving to West Palm Beach, use Brightline's official parking options and include the charge for the length of the stay. A drop-off may change both the cost and the return logistics.

For a bus-and-train trip, add the express fare, rail tickets and any transfer or destination ride. Check luggage, child, accessibility and change policies directly with each operator. Separate tickets should not be assumed to protect one another if a delay causes a missed departure. Choose a reasonable margin and understand what happens if the train is changed. A longer trip with a relaxed connection may be worthwhile, while a short appointment could make the same transfer sequence inconvenient.

Plan the return before purchasing the outward trip

The express's published last evening northbound departure from the Intermodal Transit Center is 5:50 p.m., scheduled to reach Gatlin at 6:55 p.m. Check the current timetable and any earlier option before deciding that the service works for a day trip. A train arriving in West Palm Beach after the final coach cannot produce an express connection merely because both operators serve the city. If using a different express downtown stop, verify its own stop time.

Martin County's Brightline project page says funding and planning steps remain before lease agreements and construction. Treat that project separately from today's trip. Until an official operating schedule and bookable station appear, use a current boarding point. For travel that also involves a flight, the Port St. Lucie airport explainer addresses a separate transport choice; compare the total journey and transfers rather than mixing an airport route into a rail timetable.
